I understand that from a stereotypical perspective Vinz appears very ESTP like, but he really seems more like an Fi user to me. Pretty much everything he does is underscored by his own personal values, in fact, most of the film revolves around his ‘eye-for-an-eye’ mentality regarding his friend in the hospital, claiming he will kill a police officer if Abdel dies. Who the police officer is doesn’t matter to him. So, to me at least, that narrows down the options by half. I can’t see him being an inferior Fi user because he has a much stronger propensity towards Fi than Te, though not strong enough to make him a dominant Fi user either. That, again, narrows the options down by half, which leaves us with ESFP, ENFP, ISTJ and INTJ. It’s pretty clear to me that he is far more of an extroverted observer and more than likely has Fi before Te in his function stack considering he, more often than not, just disregards logical decisions in favour of his values. So, we can quite safely say he’s not an IxTJ, once again, narrowing it down by half. So, it is really a choice between what his dominant and inferior functions are. To me, it just makes more sense that he would be an ESFP, with dominant extroverted sensing and inferior introverted intuition. He is more centred in his experience of the real world than pretty much anything conceptual. I think the inferior function, Ni in this case, is the biggest giveaway to almost anyone really. Being that Vinz is, assumedly, an Se dom, he has an undisciplined use of his Ni function, seeking out “meaning” in meaningless experiences. And that’s pretty much the whole film. That was a very longwinded way to say that I think Vinz is an ESFP but hopefully this helps people. Power of deduction. The 8w7 part is pretty self-explanatory and there doesn’t seem to be much of a debate there.
