https://practicaltyping.com/2019/01/29/my-hero-academia-stain-ISFP/ Fi: “…You won’t accomplish anything if you don’t have conviction and desire. Without those, you’ll always be an aimless weakling, achieving nothing.” “The goals of your league are those of a child. What meaning is there to killing if you don’t have real convictions?” “You aren’t heroes. You have no right to be called that. Both of you are nothing but fakes.” Stain from My Hero Academia is led by his convictions. He hates all hypocrites, false heroes, and those he deems unworthy. He readily declares that certain people are unworthy to be called heroes, like Iida who is attacking Stain for a selfish reason: revenge. He gets angry at people like Shigaraki who have no convictions, and tells him that he won’t accomplish anything without convictions. He initially refuses to team up with Shigaraki, but then considers it after finding a “warped sprout of conviction” in him. In general, he seems disgusted with Shigaraki. However, while more than willing to kill anyone he deems unworthy, Stain will also let those live who measure up to his standard of what a hero should be. He declares that Midoriya is worthy and even rescues him from a Nomu. In spite of death, Stain becomes well known for his ideology, and ends up influencing people everywhere. Se: “The word hero has lost all meaning in this society. The world is overrun by fakes, criminals like you who chase petty dreams. They must all be purged.” “I will reform it. In order to do so, blood must spill.” “These streets must run with the blood of hypocrites.” Stain uses actions to demonstrate and enforce his beliefs. He goes from city to city, killing heroes who are unworthy. For instance, he declares that blood must be spilled in order to reform Hosu City. Of course, he is eager to do so, and readily wreaks havoc without a second thought. He’s impulsive, instantly attacking and injuring Shigaraki once irritated by him. He never hesitates, struggles to act, or watches from the sidelines. He has a more adaptive and spontaneous fighting style, and never appears to worry about possible pit falls. He lives entirely in the present, having no long term or grand scale plan for enacting his dream beyond traveling from city to city, killing heroes. In fact, Shigaraki comments that Stain is wasting his time focusing on a small stage. Ni: “I was testing your motives. People always show their true colors when on the verge of death.” “I see your nature. It seems our goals fundamentally oppose each other. However, this wasn’t in vain. We agree that we need to destroy the present.” Stain has a vague goal for the future: to create a world without fake heroes. While he clearly states this vision for the future, he doesn’t really do anything to enact it on a grand scale, indicating low Ni. In addition, he focuses on reading into people’s motives and intentions, and submits people to tests to bring out their true motives. For instance, his sudden attack on Shigaraki in his hideout, while appearing to be simply an impulse, anger-driven attack, is later revealed to have a dual purpose: to bring out Shigaraki’s true colors. Te: “You’re a weakling, just like he was.” Stain uses his Te primarily to enforce his convictions. He is quick to judge and execute anyone who does not live up to his ideology. However, as one man, he can never accomplish this goal, yet he still works away, one city at a time. This lack of foresight and concrete planning demonstrates both low Ni and low Te.
