I believe Kida is an ENTP. Looking back on the movie, I could see how she might seem like an NFJ in memory. But the more I thought about her character, I saw a lot more evidence for ENTP than INFJ. I see a lot more Ne than Ni. She had an endless amount of questions for Milo. She was so curious and excited at all the possibilities of what he might tell her about 'his world'. She speculates that he might be a scholar. Before he can confirm or deny her speculation, she has already moved onto her next question. She is too excited about all the other possibilities to even hear out his answer to her initial inquiry. She continues to do this - "Oh, there is so much to ask about your world! You are a scholar, are you not?" "What is your country of origin? When did the flood waters recede? How did you--?" Even when she enlists Milo’s help in getting a vehicle to fly, she admits that, “No matter what I try, it will not respond!” But a second later says, “Perhaps if—!” already coming up with another possible strategy before Milo proceeds to translate the instructions. Her Ti extroverts in matter-of-fact analysis that might be mistaken as harsh or blunt. “Judging by your diminished physique and large forehead, you are suited for nothing else.” “Boorish, provincial, and you speak it through your nose.” She appears to have healthy Aux Ti in that she is striving to avoid personal bias and making premature judgments about the people visiting Atlantis, although she doesn’t deny her father’s claim that in the past she would not have done this. "Your heart has softened, Kida. A thousand years ago, you would've slain them on sight." “A thousand years ago, the streets were lit and our people did not have to scavenge for food at the edge of a crumbling city." She instead allows time for careful analysis by seeking out Milo and learning more about his group. While exploring the city with him, she asks questions about his companions. She wants to know all about them - and she isn’t just making conversation. Although this is played for laughs, it’s worth noting that this knowledge seems very important to Kida, since she has Milo verify that she remembers everything about them correctly over dinner. Some people believe, based on the king’s backstory, that he is an unhealthy INFJ. This would make him an unhealthy tert Ti user, which could explain how he trusts his own judgment and rationality and no one else’s. It makes sense that a daughter with such strong Ne and healthy Ti could bump heads with a father who is insistent upon allowing their way of life to be "preserved" and refusing to consider any potential for positive change. Kida doesn't seem to have one clear Ni vision/goal. She rather sees endless potential (Ne) that her father refuses to entertain. I don't see Fi in Kida, but I do see Fe. She's concerned about people on a grand scale. “The people are content.” -The King “They do not know any better.” -Kida However, I believe her feeling judgment is lower than her thinking. Kida never appeals to her father’s emotions or talks about personal beliefs/values, but rather pokes logical holes in his reasoning (Ti) Yes, she would have slain outsiders back then, but that's irrelevant - the city is nothing now like it was then. Sure, the people are content, but that’s only because they don’t know any better. She ignores rules that don’t make logical sense to her, such as refusing to let outsiders who’ve seen Atlantis live when they might be able to aid the city. Much of what she says also reflects a desire to make things the way they were in the past. “We were once a great people. Now we live in ruins. The kings of our past would weep if they could see how far we have fallen!” She thinks the key to “saving their future” is to “unlock the secrets of their past.” For ENTPs, healthy Si - not talking about Si grip - can show itself in nostalgia, and/or comfort in what’s familiar. You’ll find that a lot of ENTPs are very interested in history. From what we see of Kida, it would make a lot of sense for Si to be in her function stack, but she definitely doesn’t lead with it. I think this is her low Si balancing out her Ne in a healthy way. Kida has lived a long life, so it would make sense that she has developed her functions. Admittedly, I think Kida is somewhat challenging to type, but not because I think she was inconsistently written. It’s just that she actually doesn’t have that many scenes in the film. We’re really going off of a small amount of dialogue. I love this movie and I think she makes a strong impression for what little scenes she has, but because of the lack of content, I felt like I had to look closely at her scenes to determine her functions. I never saw the sequel, so I’m not sure if that would change my vote. If you have any thoughts on this or think I am wrong about Kida's type, please do feel free to share, I’d love to hear another perspective
