Pretty obvious Ti dom. “ Stannis is a killer. The Lannisters are killers. Your father was a killer. Your brother is a killer. Your sons will be killers someday. The world is built by killers. So you'd better get used to looking at them.” I’ve always seen Sandor as someone who truly understands the way the world works in Westeros (Ti). Comments such as this highlight his understanding. You can also see his Ti in the way he argues with Arya (and also his lack of Fe) which leads to pretty funny lines like this: Clegane: Meryn Trant? The greatest swordsman who ever lived killed by Meryn f***ing Trant? Arya: He was outnumbered. Clegane: Any boy w**** with a sword could beat three Meryn Trants. Arya: Syrio didn't have a sword. Or armor. Just a stick. Clegane: The greatest swordsman who ever lived didn't have a sword (Ti)? All right. You have a sword. Let's see what he taught you. Go on, do it for your Braavosi friend. Dead like all the rest of your friends. (such an obvious Fe user 😍) *Arya tries to stab the Hound, sword bounces off his armour* *Clegane slaps Arya* Clegane: Your friend's dead and Meryn Trant's not 'cause Trant had armor and a big f***ing sword (big f***ing Ti statement). *The Hound helps Arya up* Comments like this highlight how often Sandor uses his Ti. Once again, he has his own framework of how the world works in Westeros (armor and big f***ing swords > skill without armor and big f***ing swords) . And, to me at least, he serves as a sort of teacher to the Stark girls as he is perhaps the most honest about topics he thinks to be true (Ti), such as this. To see his Se and Ni, we need to take a step back from Sandor’s actions and words. We need to analyze him from a more macroscopic perspective—as Sandor as an overall person. Sandor isn’t someone concerned with metaphysical concepts, principles, or theories (Ne Si). As he would probably put “I don’t give two s**ts about Ne”. Instead, Sandor is an opportunist and a survivalist. We see this at the Battle of the Blackwater when he decides to leave, knowing that within the chaos and uncertainty of the battle lies the opportune moment to do so (Ni). We can also see this in his decision to capture Arya and try to ransom her to her aunt Lisa. Since Sandor’s Ni child isn’t as well developed or mature as a Ni hero/parent would be, he often makes these quick, impulsive decisions in the moment (Se), based off his best judgment (Ti), for his own survival and success (Ni) that in actuality may lead him to further trouble down the line (such getting into altercations with other soldiers after telling Joffrey to F off, getting wounded/infected afterwards, and encountering Brienne of F***ing Tarth after taking Arya). So, to no surprise at all, Sandor Clegane is an ISTP. On a side note, I thought he was the character with some of the best development throughout the series. His return in season 6, his atonement in season 7, and his last talk with Arya in season 8 all highlighted to me that he was someone who had found a sort of peace with himself, the s**t world around him, and his inability to shake his desire for revenge. I think he had also come to love Arya as much as he was capable of, in a manner almost like a daughter; and in their last talk together, he realised that she would probably die taking Cersei out and that this wasn’t a future she (or he) would like. Cognitively speaking, I saw him use his Ni and Fe best here, showing to me that he had developed his weaker functions. It seems like Sandor Clegane grew cognitively as well.
Biografie
Sandor Clegane, popularly known as the Hound, was the younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane and the personal bodyguard of Prince Joffrey Baratheon. When Joffrey ascended the Iron Throne, Sandor was named into his Kingsguard (despite not being a knight), but deserted his post at the Battle of the Blackwater. After traveling as a fugitive with Arya Stark, having a close brush with death following an altercation with Brienne of Tarth, and the mass murder of a congregation he attempted to find peace with, he reluctantly joined the Brotherhood Without Banners in hopes of having a greater purpose. Sandor Clegane shares many traits with his brother, such as his large build, immense strength and toughness. He is a skilled swordsman, but favors heavy strikes and brute force, like his brother he utilizes his sword in a one-handed style.
