This isn't a type 5 human being. It is true that Johnny defines himself in relation to his intellectual superiority but this is something that a 7 can do just as much. Johnny uses his books and his theory and his deep conversations as an escape from himself. Literally the whole film is him running away and distracting himself from his problems, and reading and lecturing is just a way in which he goes about doing this. It's a common misconception that 7s are just incapable of understanding things in depth and using anything other than drugs and dancing as an escape.
