Tertiary Si and Inferior Si can be hard to differentiate on the surface, so I’d like to be able to clear it up for you all so you can be more confident in your decision between INFP and ENFP. The tertiary function is one that is used but consciously, much like an auxiliary function, it’s just utilized less naturally. The dominant function is one that is pretty much unconscious or used naturally without trying to, it’s the base of someone’s personality. The inferior function is one that has to be used so thoroughly it is often ignored because of how difficult and unnatural it is to utilize such. So when looking at someone with tertiary Si, you’ll probably notice them actively trying to define an object and what it personally means to them but usually lacking depth and detail, whereas an inferior Si user may avoid doing so all together because it’s too difficult for them. I don’t personally think that Izumis clumsiness is linked to any function in particular. There are many Se dom characters like ESFPs that tend to be quite reckless and lose their bearings on their surroundings, like Gon for example. Se in Jung is just a function that is able to describe the objectivity of the environment in great detail, and not the subjective meaning to the user, so both Se and Si aren’t directly linked to athleticism. Athleticism is a honed skill and not part of cognition. Se in socionics is one described as a need for power, status, and a direct impact, while Si is described as a bank of personal experiences to draw from in the current. So the same also applies here. Usually when we look at a person what we’re actually seeing on the surface is the active auxiliary function because that’s the function that is most consciously used and used very well as opposed to our dominant function which is more unconscious and automatic. I’ve noticed that throughout this show Izumi is constantly very expressive of his thoughts on the group and what they could all do together, and is very imaginative, which to me seems like a clear-cut Ne usage. What he doesn’t express though, on the surface, is what he actually wants to achieve by doing so. Izumi is very reflective on what being clumsy means to him and spends a great deal of time trying to make sense of it; and ends up defining his clumsiness as not bad luck but a trait that curses not only him but the people around him. To me this does not seem like inferior Si usage, but tertiary Si usage paired with Ne to project his subjective perception of the environment onto the objective metaphysical world of his friends. An inferior Si user would most likely not be so reflective on this physical occurrence, and may simply define it as just a trait and not go any further. Along with this, Izumi is a very introspective character. While expressively he seems to want to just get along with his group, internally we get to see his perspective of who he thinks he is as a person. He’s someone who just wants to overcome this “burden” and be a good person and friend to everyone in his life, and he does so by trying to prepare himself for events and plan them out to ensure that if things do go wrong, that he has a backup so as to not effect the people he’s with. To me, this seems like someone who is constantly pulling from the outside world towards his inner world to try and find out exactly how and why he should make a change to who he is. His ideas and imagination about the objective changes he wants to make (Ne), whether that be towards his approach to his group or how he presents himself is very reactive with how he wants things to be. These feelings come from within. Because of inferior Te, often times Izumi has a hard time putting his feelings into words and expressing them in a way that would make sense to people. Unlike a tertiary Te user who would try their best to express some rationality towards their feelings, Izumi does not, he’s much more internal. He’s a very healthy Fi user and I personally think it’s dominant.

Yuuki Izumi is a friendly, upbeat kid. He’s had terrible luck his entire life. If something can go wrong... he’ll probably wind up in the hospital. But he still thinks he’s the luckiest guy in the world, because Izumi has a girlfriend who is smart, sporty, and always looking out for him. Shikimori is his knight in shining armor.
