Apple today couldn't be more anti-innovation, they're an excessive profit monopoly. They let other businesses (Samsung, Huawei) use their own resources to experiment new form factors in technology and wait until there's equivalent to no risk to incorporate features like 5G and their smart watches. You can bet they'll attempt something similar with their Apple Pen for a "Galaxy Note" style smartphone in the upcoming future. They are extremely safe and use the past experiences of their own work and others to lead themselves through the technology landscape.
