I read an in-depth biography on her recently; she was definitely a Te-Fi user. Her letters were shockingly crude for the era– she said what she wanted to her family and didn't care about social repercussions. (Her jokes were pretty shocking- after a local woman gave birth to a stillborn baby, Jane made snarky comments about how the baby dropped dead at seeing how ugly his father was.) But her sarcasm was limited mostly to writing; she wasn't bluntly mean to people's faces, and most people described her as pleasant, but off-putting and intense underneath the quiet politeness. That makes me think aux Te is definitely right, and her tendency to avoid- or even mock, in the case of Northanger Abbey- the status quo makes dom Ni > dom Si.
Biografie
Jane Austen (1775–1817) was an English novelist known primarily for her six major novels, which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century. Austen's plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage in the pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. Her works critique the novels of sensibility of the second half of the 18th century and are part of the transition to 19th-century literary realism.
