James Somerton is a YouTuber whose content is centered around aspects of LGBTQ culture & history, which he explores through analysis of film, literature, and public figures. In December of 2023, fellow YouTuber Hbomberguy's exposé on rife plagiarism present on the platform made largely evidenced allegations of unoriginality and research theft on Somerton's part, embroiling him in a large controversy and resulting in multiple confirmations from essayists and journalists that their work had been copied, often verbatim, by Somerton and his team.
