I think this game intentionally features unbalanced combat system. It is universally claimed in game design that video games for people with depression should have no timed missions and turned based combat, nothing that would put a need for intense reaction times. Basically people with depression wish to feel smart but also they don't want to face something they cannot get over. It's kinda ridiculous how Pluto is split into body parts during his battle but Slime Girls aren't. Basically the game lacks a lot of tactical depth. Boss Rush mode suggests some replay value but those are same encounters with bosses having higher stats for balance. If you develop a single strategy against all encounters it will work against almost all encounters. On the other hand if you don't have that one intended cheese strategy you won't be able to experiment like with BOSS who acts as an introduction to combat system without explaining anything and merely allowing experimentation. You will keep losing until you find intended way for an encounter or figure out that one strategy for most encounters. Some OMORI players claimed that they once had depression which is fair enough. I think Slime Girls probably are like one boss because Sunny has fantasies about sleeping with all of them at once or do other things. He is a literal INTP who probably watched some weird cartoons and some slasher movies that resulted in giving them a chainsaw attack. He portrays female characters interested in science as attractive in his own way of putting it. At this point he merely wants to chill before encountering Humphrey who is supposted to be far more disgusting. Humphrey is implied to have lived for so long that he lost his sense of morality. This is how Sunny sees adults, no different than at least half of minors. Sunny is afraid that if he ever makes it to adulthood he will become morally corrupt.
Biografie
The game tells the story of a hikikomori boy named Sunny and his dream world alter-ego Omori, exploring the real world and the surreal dream world to overcome his repressed fears and secrets. He is joined by a party of his close friends as they explore the overworld and engage in turn-based battles against fantastical enemies, with status effects based on the characters' emotions. The game has two routes with multiple endings based on the player's choices
