Ignoring a stereotypically ISTJ appearance - the Ni arrogance of this man is something to behold. It’s something I have to keep a check of in myself, and that I see in my own partners INTJ dad too. Ni doms think we have things sussed in our worldview/ideology, because we are often right, but it can lead to a close-minded arrogance of thinking we understand the complexities and realities of situations better than other people, especially S types, when that isn’t true. The film itself seemed to be a journey for him to practice what he preaches, rather than projecting his own fears and regrets onto the people around him, whilst being the only person not to actually face himself and the issues in his life. It’s a tunnel vision I can’t quite put into words succinctly, but I think we sometimes forget that our guiding principles and our actions are not one and the same, but two separate things we must be responsible for. This guy had clearly many things he needed therapy for, yet in his worldview God is the best and only therapy you need - which didn’t seem to be going super-well for him considering he is haunted by his dreams, but there’s Ni arrogance for you. Also; we are master over-thinkers in terms of preparing for the future, or for occurrences like floods etc. ‘Better to be safe than sorry’ tends to be an Ni attitude to have. I found his initial dislike and concerns with the apartment very relatable. It wasn’t the journey to New York that was the problem for him - it’s New York itself. Se inferior. As one myself I can relate to the natural aversion to unsafe or unpredictable places - including large cities. Obviously this is intertwined with clear trauma from 9/11 which I can understand some people suggesting ISTJ from, but frankly we are all humans, you don’t need to be Si dom or Si user to be haunted by trauma. Also the big sentiments he made surrounding being grateful for what he felt *really* matters, wishing life was cheaper/less money orientated and discussing death/mortality making his whole family go dead-silent 🫣. Like do they disagree? Why do people think that’s too much to say? Out of all the times this know-it-all opened his mouth, those were some of the best things he said, and that’s what everyone felt was a bit-much? Idk this definitely isn’t the best I could’ve explained it, and I really understood the ISTJ votes but it’s kinda another way of looking at the same behaviour - I feel he is Ni dom and Se last which is really reinforced by his fears, which greatly surround breakdown of his understood reality and also sensory overstimulation - and his Fe is shown throughout (though less when he was drunk) through being tactile and caring with his family, and generally exuding Fe - if you know what it looks like you see it idk. Anyway, with love, please don’t reply to this because I won’t respond. Ppl on here are too nasty for my liking.
