(1/8) Oh Minato… my son with the saviour complex… Clear Fe dom, he maps best to an ENFJ. I’m sorry but his Fe is too dominant (legit SWALLOWS him) for it to be a tert. I’m tired of the stereotypes on this page just because Minato is ‘logical’ and ‘detached’. *[UPDATE]: I didn’t expect my brief analysis to get so many likes, thank you! (😭) I didn’t plan on making it so comprehensive initially (used to be 2 pages). I’ve refined my older analysis if anyone is still interested. I hope it can help others! For the misconceptions first: If you think he’s a Ne-dom because of the anime (which is understandable), I HIGHLY recommend you to read the manga first before forming a conclusion. Because his character arc happens almost near the end (like… 90 chapts in?), THAT’S when EVERYTHING about his inner thoughts and processing gets revealed. The anime just generally misses out a lot of his inner monologues too. He is so much more beyond the surface image (meant to trick viewers at first) of this ‘logical’ ‘sly fox’ who looks like he’s just an opportunist Ne-dom having fun ‘unlocking’ people. I’m sorry but that’s just not who Minato is (and is a huge mischaracterisation of his character... Just like how Koyun misunderstood him at first). People are free to see him as a Ne-dom, what I’m tired of are the harmful stereotypes perpetuated that feelers cannot even think or act logically (or vice versa— how thinkers cannot care or be emotional; people in the real world have always acted in both ways). I implore people to please look deeper beyond the surface (being logical does NOT = Ti or xNTP… An angel loses its wings anytime people use this as an argument for both Minato and Koyun… 😁), look at what the actual functions and processes entail & you’ll find Minato’s ‘logic’ has always been defensive and in service of his Fe. His ‘detachment’ comes from OVER-adaptation to Fe (and abstract Ni vision). 1. Dominant Fe ➜ page 3 2. Fe > Ne ➜ page 4 3. Aux Ni ➜ page 6 4. Tert Se ➜ page 8 5. Inferior Ti ➜ page 8 — ☑️ The overview (*if you’re interested in the quotes/evidence, go through all the pages after! This is for anyone lazy to read, just know that it’s not enough on its own. You might need to scroll to the bottom because i’m continuing the new pages in a new reply under here): ➜ Dominant Fe: Minato’s main decision-making process is wholly subordinated to external objective (collective) values. He consistently prioritises judgements that maintain external harmony by adapting to the group and surrounding atmosphere. His feelings ‘correspond with objective situations and general values’. Fe is NOT = being aware or connected with one’s own emotions. Fe is an orientation to objective values, at its worst YES according to Jung it can be detached from the self, lose the ‘human warmth’ & become insincere. Also him teasing people does not negate Fe being dominant... All the teasing is just one of his many tactics to lighten the atmosphere & make others more comfortable. In truth, he’s terrified of ever disturbing the harmony or looking like the bad guy. ➜ Ni > Ne: I rarely see Minato’s perception orient towards the possibilities of external objects (neither does he even seem engaged with the idea). Minato isn’t ‘opportunistic’ like Ne; he does not pursue relationships or outcasted students out of a satisfying engagement with possibilities (Ne), he does it because he’s OBSESSED with his Ni saviour vision and is uncomfortable at any disruption to the collective atmosphere (Fe) (This is why his character arc is so important. Some of his quotes even go against Ne… I’ll list them later). 🔐 Now for the Ni: Ni is most prominently shown in his overarching abstract vision (of how he views people): The imagery & act of unlocking people like keys and locks. Minato’s Ni embodies the archetype of ‘The Saviour’ (and him being a locksmith/the ‘keys’, while others are simply ‘locks’). — [Notice how it’s an imagery/symbol that is *detached from his physical senses*, it’s more conceptual which aligns better with Ni]. Ni ‘peers behind’ this image further rather than stay in the concrete (which would’ve simply been keys & locks as physical objects), it perceives the image further to embody the archetypes & concepts of saving people (seeing himself through the lens of a ‘good’ saviour; a ‘locksmith’), harmony, peace. — His Ni vision targets outcasted students & Fe acts to ‘fix’ them. It’s a fairly linear vision with an overarching theme & symbolism (unlike Ne), but in service of a dominant Fe. Same with the imagery of a dark locked door representing his closed heart… each imagery is closer to Ni’s subjective symbolism. He views himself and others through these detached abstract concepts & archetypes. Ni is usually showcased when he’s analysing and deep in thought to look at what the underlying is. But again… it’s not exploratory or divergent in the way Ne is (because Ni is convergent, it doesn’t keep branching out).
