I think evil gay butler is very misunderstood and complex character. I like how he saw right through the upstart champagne socialist groomer Tom Branson. His trolling of Tom during the dinner party was well deserved considering Tom's very vocal "political beliefs". EGB goes a through a long gradual "redemption arc" which doesn't turn him into a paragon saint but instead still he still remains a flawed individual. Although, along his journey and character growth is able now able to show more benevolent traits and connect with others.
