People associate 4w3 with ENFPs probably because there are more ENFP 4w3s on the internet and less ISFP 4w3s (sense there are more intuitives and less sensors). Generally speaking, textbook 4w3 leans more towards ISFP (ENFP 4w3s can obviously still exist). There is no relationship between enneagram and cognitive functions, but the ideologies of 4s seems to match more with Fi dom then Ne Fi. Constant reflection on one’s emotions, feeling isolated and different from the world, expression of feelings are somewhat similar to some of Fi’s behaviors: reflection on one’s own emotions, making decisions based on their own set of moral codes, expression of emotional truths (to self or to others), isolating from external moral codes and forming one’s own ways of living. While for Ne, it’s more textbook 7: wanting to explore the world, fear of committing and being restrained (Si inferior), easily bored of reality, intellectual pursuits in wild topics, etc. ISFP probably works better because of Se aux, though INFP works as well. People consider Se to be “extroverted”, and w3 is an aggressive wing, so therefore we vote ISFP instead of INFP. A more descriptive reason: Se is living-in-the-moment and objective, which matches more with w3 than w5. w3 is fast-paced, objective and efficient, while w5 is more dreamy, introverted and makes decisions slowly rather than taking things at a fast pace. Se is indulgent in the physical world, while w5 isolates itself from the physical world and lives in its own ideas, which matches more with Ne based on now Ne loves to dream about possibilities and dislikes focusing on what is really going on. So therefore, ISFP matches 4w3 the most. ENFP 4w3s are more “common” because intuitives are more common on the internet. Another reason why people vote ENFP. It’s because of Ne. People tend to forget ISFPs have tert Ni, and Ni can be equally as dreamy, poetic and insightful. ENFP 4w3 works really well, but imo ISFP is more of the archetypical 4w3.

They want recognition for themselves and their work, and they typically put more effort into everything having to do with their self-presentation and related matters. They are more practical, but also more extravagant-loving refinement, culture, and sophistication-typically seeing themselves as high class, elegant, and concerned with social acceptance. They can be competitive and disdainful of others; grandiosity and narcissism are expressed more openly and directly.
