Loaded with self-esteem issues because he uses achievement to measure his self-worth and the glory days of achievement are all in the past. Maybe he gets healthier in the 2000s and 2010s, but if he´s not a 3 anymore, that´s just poor writing.

Eugene "Flash" Thompson is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a star high school football player who mercilessly bullies his high school classmate Peter Parker but greatly admires Spider-Man, an irony in which the superhero takes some gratification. In time, they become close friends in college after Flash matures.
