— ESFP SO8 Arriety is incredibly novelty-seeking and adventurous like your average Pe-dom, but her orientation is clearly toward tangible reality rather than the intuitive realm. While she’s exploring the house, she’s never focused on seeking multiple possibilities and connections from the environment, she’s focused purely on the sensorial. When she does make intuitive connections, they are based on physical evidence first rather than hypothesizing multiple scenarios in the moment: “Isn’t it possible that not every human being is dangerous?” — Conclusion made based on behavior observed by Shawn. I saw someone mention idealism and imagining what could be, but this statement shows more of a linear theory (Ni) based on what she observed tangibly (Se.) If she were to be a 7, shed have to be sp7 which doesn’t fit her well. The main theme of 7s is constant planning and idealism for the future, needing more than they already have which isn't Arriety's goal. I noticed a lot of 8s are mistyped as 7 when they have a sunny disposition and/or are very exploratory and excitement-seeking, but this is actually a prime trait of type 8: “The passion of Lust causes the Eight to be domineering and excessive, as they are constantly seeking intense experiences, a way to assert their own will, and a way to manipulate situations to serve them.” her character seems much more focused on proving her strength and protecting her home/family. She’s very rebellious, domineering, impulsive, and has a strong will, all common themes for 8s. So8 is her most likely subtype. “Beans [humans] don't scare me!” “I am telling you, he's just a child … I’ll be fine.” “Sometimes you have to stand up and fight for the things that are worth fighting for.” She also seems more 2-fixed, she's very confident in herself and her abilities and tends to use flattery (with her mom mostly) to get out of trouble or get her way (on top of 7 fix ofc.) She has practically no 4 traits. Anyways, I remember watching this when I was younger and this whole time I thought it wasn’t real lol.
