Haven't read the manga, but I think that if he was INFJ or INTJ, he'd be able to see beyond what's in front of him; to understand what he's lacking or in general to at least question the reality he thinks of as "the truth". To me, it feels like he's never thinking in an abstract way; he wants to destroy the Kou empire not because of many of its attacks against life and free will, but because its roots are in Al Tharmen, the evil organization whose leader is his own mother. That was "the truth" he learnt when he was little, and that is what he fights for as an adult, convinced that he is right, no matter how many lives are sacrificed. As such, ISTJ feels perfect for him. Because his reasons are straightforward and operate on concepts that are, to some extent, very black and white. You can compare him to Aladdin (INFJ) in that regard, who can see the big picture and is able to realize the underlying reasons behind many of the disasters in the world. Or Alibaba (ESFJ) who leads with Fe and is able to deeply emphatize with many, as shown in the Pirates arc. He realizes the kids were manipulated by Madaura, sees the truth of the situation through his empathy, but Hakuryuu... well, LOL- Why ISTJ? Si in how he tends to stay with the ideas that are familiar with him, doing things on his own even after supposedly learning that he shouldn't, and perceiving the traumatic event he lived as a child as an unquestionable truth, with no room for question; a big part of why he does things is to protect his sister, to try to hold together the family they once were. Once he sees she moved past that, that she is living her life differently than him, and hold different values, he falls apart. His longing for the past is also seen in how he was the only one who succumbed to Madaura; in the end, if he could, he'd go back to how things were before, back then when he lived in blissful ignorance. Te in his straight-forwardness and execution of plans with specific steps to follow (Talk to Sinbad, get his support, now I can destroy the Kou empire!!!!) Fi in how he doesn't tend to think about the greater good and keeps his goals related to himself and his family (also seen in how he wanted to make Morgiana his empress but didn't think about what she had to say in the matter) though it's tricky because his trauma basically shapes his actions and ideas of the world in every way possible. I dunno much about inferior Ne enough to exemplify it. I think that ISFJ is also possible, though I'd like examples of his Fe.
