Jackson's leadership style is not systematic or goal-oriented. It's about getting players to buy into a mode of being. Most coaches have a materialistic philosophy in which they seek to maximize the effectiveness of what they have on hand, including the talent of their players. But Jackson used Tex Winter's triangle offense, which he bought into while he was an assistant with the Bulls. It's a very Ti-Fe system. It deals with permutations of a simple concept and doesn't rely on individual talent or leadership on the floor. One of his coaching masterstrokes was convincing Michael Jordan, before the 1991 season, not to maximize his output, but instead to sacrifice some of his output so that the team would benefit as a whole from other players contributing more. Jackson's interview on Oprah's podcast is a good entry point into his personality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UW49WAMhP0 Oprah quotes his book several times. Here is one of those quotations, which I think is very representative of Jackson's personality: "Some coaches are obsessed with winning trophies. Others like to see their faces on TV. What moves me is watching young men bond together and tap into the magic that arises when they focus their whole heart and soul on something greater than themselves." Not an INTJ.
