[1/2] 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐒𝐞 𝐄𝐓(𝐒) The ego fixation on Point Eight is known as Ego-Vengeance or Over-Justicemaker. This ego belongs to Historical Ego, also known as body-based/gut triad which deals with one’s survivability based on impulse and physical environment. This ego is poisoned by the psychic poison of Avarice. As Ichazo said, this ego arises from “a sense of abuse in the childhood relationship with a Mother figure” (Ichazo on Point 8). We could understand this fixation as a primal vengeance-seeking based on a sense of injustice and being abused whilst being greedy in the process of “making justice”. This fixation creates the passion of Excess, an excessive search on doing this vengeance, which manifests in intense seeking due to one’s body impulse. Naranjo uses Lust as a more appropriate term, “a passion that seeks intensity, not only through sex, but in all manner of stimulation: activity, anxiety, spices, high speed, the pleasure of loud music, and so on” (Character & Neurosis). The psychic poison of Avarice is manifested in this character’s search for ever more aliveness, due to the avoidance of inwardness that shuts down the inner sensation of being alive. We could understand this passion as a never-ending intense seeking due to the fixation of justice-seeking vengeance. This ego arises due to the disconnection with Holy Truth or Divine Truth, an awareness that “the cosmos objectively exists now; that this existence is its own definition, and continues whether an individual understands it or not; and that the individual experiences the truth of Reality most completely when he views each moment fresh, without preconceptions about what should be happening” (Ichazo on Point 8). Therefore, we could understand Excess or Lust as a passion to overexploit the physical world out of stimulation-seeking intensity based on the motor center of the body type, an impulse based type that deals with rage, turning the intensity of suffering into intensity of satisfaction, feelings, pleasure and “the war against the abuses” (27 personalities en busca del ser). When this structure meets the conservation-related Self-Preservation instinct, this would produce a character that projects their Lust to conserve one’s well being. Ichazo assigned “Satisfactory Survival” as the neurotic need, while Naranjo assigned “Satisfaction”. This neurotic need could be understood as a neurotic need to satisfy the SP8’s Lust by intensely seeking stimulation from things that they deem important to ensure their survivability. This intense-seeking stimulation is not based on actually having the things. Instead, this arises from the frustration of what they want to have - “I have to have it. This is mine. I have to have it” (27 personalities en busca del ser). SP8 is similar to SX1 in this sense, since SX1 is also a focused and intense character. However, as E1, it’s different from E8. First, E1 is a hypersocial character, a character that is too concerned with rules and perfecting the world out of social motives. On the other hand, E8 is antisocial and doesn’t care about the rules. This also applies to SP8. SP8 seeks satisfaction out of selfishness and doesn’t care to breach the rules or other’s space. As Naranjo said, SP8 “knows how to get things, how to get away with it” (27 personalities en busca del ser). Like a survivor and lone wolf, SP8 knows how to survive. However, remember that SP8’s way of surviving is antisocial, rule-ignoring, and selfish, because ultimately what SP8 seeks is to feed their Lust, to seek intensity by overexploiting the physical world out of rage and impulse.

Biographie

In this subtype, the Eight’s aggressiveness and excess (lust) are channeled into physical survival and material security. In a hostile world, the self-preservation Eight will either win or go down fighting. Fiercely protective of friends and family, this subtype can establish more territory and stockpile more supplies than anyone, but in a friendly world, may miss the boat altogether.
