Due to experiencing an entire life without no one to look up to aside from the legend Oden and his logbook, Yamato "became Oden". Oden was loved by everyone so of course Yamato would want to rely on such Idol. Yamato never had a motherly figure and Kaido (as far as we know since there are no explicit statements about Kaido's treatment towards Yamato before the Oden thing) always tried to impose his own belifes onto Yamato, by force if necessary. If you go by Yamato's mannerism and the way Yamato behaves you can cleary see a Ne dominant but what titlts people's gears is Yamato's UNHEALTHY Si. Yamato often treats Oden as a concept that should be strived for. When Luffy sees Yamato's face for the first time, his first reaction is "You can't be Oden. He was loved by everyone" and then Yamato quickly responds "okay then, so you're a better Oden than me" . Yamato is a imature and not developed individual. Oda himself doesn't take her seriously because she's treated as a girl outside of the manga.
