Clear INTJ, Alan planned the events of the first game including accounting for his own memory loss and leaving the final page blank for when he figured out how to save Alice. He also orchestrated the Hiss escaping in Control and Hartman being corrupted by the Dark Presence, as well as Faden discovering that he was trapped. From what we can tell he's predicting the events of the second game as well, guiding Saga. While you could argue that Alan's premonitions could be mistaken for Ni, I don't see much Si in Alan, he displays a lot of stereotypical Ni dominant behaviour, being irritable due to his writer's block and getting angry when Alice reveals that she got him a typewriter and suggested seeing a psychologist. He's frequently self absorbed and insecure, clearly uncomfortable around others. He relies heavily on Ni based patterns and symbology, the Clicker, Thomas Zane guiding him as the diver and his use of light against darkness being the obvious examples. Alan's power is essentially to manifest his Ni physically in the world and in the Dark Place. Alan also has clear inferior Se, when under stress he becomes impulsive, deliberately leaving Alice in the dark cabin despite knowing her phobia, attacking and threatening her kidnapper, and the very obvious example of Alan foolishly deciding to get drunk with Barry despite the house they're in being surrounded by the Taken. After the first game, Alan deteriorates from isolation in the Dark Place and the hopelessness of his situation. He goes into a Ni-Fi loop, unable to properly make sense of his writings. He is attacked by his irrational self, struggling to fight against his growing desire to give up and die. Alan Wake's American Nightmare is the culmination of this, with Alan resorting to his earliest, schlockiest work in a desperate attempt to escape and see Alice again. Edit: So, nothing much changed about his typology in the second game. People generally see American Nightmare as non canon since it seems completely irrelevant to the rest of the series but it's plot is essentially a first draft of what Alan was trying to do in the second game. Put together an absurdly specific series of events to manifest in the real world - only problem is that the Dark Presence can and must follow Alan wherever he takes the story, and has some ability to fill in the gaps in the story. Alan creates the concept of the Champion of Light to give himself more power, but narratively it follows that a champion requires an adversary, it's opposite. So the Dark Presence creates the Herald of Darkness. The Alan Wake games are essentially Silent Hill for Ni doms. Patterns within patterns, time being non linear, loops and spirals. Alan is constantly playing catch up with himself, constantly going over the story in order to perfect it, but perfection in art is impossible. As an aspiring writer I relate a lot to this depiction of the creative process, and it makes sense that Alan would need Saga, Faden, Casey and everyone else to contribute to the story, change it in ways neither he nor the Dark Presence can account for.
