Samwell, nicknamed Sam, Tarly is the incumbent Grand Maester in the small council of King Brandon I Stark. After being disinherited and exiled to the wall by his father Lord Randyll Tarly of Horn Hill for his weakness in martial arts, Samwell developed a close friendship with fellow member of the Night’s Watch Jon Snow, whose true identity he personally discovered later on.
