I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, but having recently played through the game, I'm quite convinced that Jill is an sp9. I do think she has a strong 5 fix, but I wouldn't consider it her core type. Type 9 is in the gut triad, the triad primarily defined by their response to anger, and the harmonic of the type 9 is positivity. In context, these two traits together manifest as a person who's defined by dealing with anger by redirecting their focus to something outside of themselves (with this "something" primarily varying depending on subtype). This gives them a means to repress their anger and convince themselves that they are happier than they really are. It's associated strongly in principle with concepts such as learned helplessness; when someone wants to change something, but learns time and time again that they are incapable of affecting it, they'll convince themselves that they're okay with it as a means of self-protection and avoid trying to change things even when they are fully capable of doing so. The sp9 in particular is characterised by dealing with anger by redirecting their focus to the tangible "things" they have or things they need to do (in contrast to the so or sx subtypes, who tend to focus more on relationships), with this often manifesting as people who lean heavily into and merge their identity with their activities. There is, of course, a lot more than can be said about the type 9 from different authors, but these fundamental aspects are enough to get my point across. Jill's characterisation is definitely one I'd associate with the gut triad and its focus on anger. Though Jill doesn't necessarily come off as an angry person, it was clear going through the story that she was far angrier beneath the surface than she let on. She has a lot to be angry about; the world around her is dystopic, falling apart, and the few good people she meets suffer at the hands of the society they live in. And Jill's response to her anger is fairly consistent; she tells herself that she's okay, and she leans into her work. Even when faced with the death of her ex-girlfriend, Jill obsessively insists that she's unbothered and gets more aggressively into her bartending work just to help her stave off her negative emotions. Her whole character arc is about her coming to terms with her anger, acknowledging it, and finding ways to be happy without needing to repress how she really feels. Comparatively, I don't really see where any of the 5 subtypes come from. I can see the "vibe" of the type 5 in Jill to some extent, but fundamentally, I don't see any evidence of the centre of intelligence or harmonics of a 5; she's not defined by the actions she takes to mitigate her fear, nor does she have any particular focus on her competency, let alone competency for the purpose of mitigating fear. 5's seek to protect themselves from their fear of the unknown by always ensuring they have all the information they could need, thereby never facing a situation they are unprepared for. I don't see this in Jill, especially in comparison to the evidence for sp9. I should note that, obviously, some of the descriptions here are a bit simplified. When possible, I try to avoid Enneagram arguments with problems that can result from different author interpretations, so my descriptions of the Enneagram types tend to focus on fundamental elements that all the major authors could reasonably agree upon. Even so, regardless of which author you go by, I don't see Jill fitting any 5 subtypes better than she fits sp9. Some people may take issue with an INTP being an sp9, but to be honest, I don't; Jill fits descriptions of both INTP and sp9 very well, so I'm not going to pretend I don't think she's both because of it potentially being a questionable combination. All in all, I think this is a very fitting typing, but I'm open to discussion.
