Enneagram Argument: I want anyone voting E8 to look at the dialogue during the fight with Shifu and explain why an angry rampaging kung fu leopard will say anything about making his father proud if all he really wanted was a dragon scroll. Its either Dreamworks made a massive brain fart while writing those 3 lines Tai Lung's dialogue or E8 voters just simply ignored the dialogue and missed the point of Tai Lung's character. Tai Lung's character is all about chasing success in order to (a) get status (b) make Shifu proud And while any enneagram type can do the above, you have to look at why the DRAGON WARRIOR title is so important to him. This is a symbolic accolade of ultimate power in the kung fu universe, so why would Tai Lung only see himself fit for the scroll if he was an E8? What makes him so fixated over one singular goal? If you still need evidence that Tai Lung was doing it for the validation: - The dialogue above. You don't ask someone to tell you how proud they are of you if they have done that all your life - he based his entire life devoted to shifu's claim that he was "destined for greatness" and chasing the identity his father pointed him towards - Tai Lung's brief interaction with Shifu before their fight also shows Tai Lung wanting Shifu's validation. For the last time, he is calling Shifu his master and when Shifu brushes him off, the first thing Tai Lung gets mad about is "the new favourite", someone is doing better than he is in Shifu's eyes, and not the fact that Shifu is in the way of his scroll. E3>E8 - Tai Lung's devastation when Shifu doesn't defend him in front of Oogway. First of all its betrayal, yes, but it also signifies the end of Shifu's validation for him. If Shifu doesn't argue for him it means the loss of his masters faith in him, which was unacceptable. -Tai Lung is the first master to master all 1000 scrolls of Kung fu. Combine this with "all i ever did i did to make you proud". Not only did he try to make Shifu proud, he blew all his competition out of the water and did it to an extreme where he actually became the best. - Zero evidence to suggest Tai Lung having an E8 core fear of "being harmed and not in control". Lots of evidence for E3 core fear of "being worthless and undeserving" There is just simply more evidence to suggest E3 over E8. And if we wanna talk heart triad Tai Lung is definitely not an E4. Tai Lung himself portrays that he isn't worth **** if not Dragon Warrior. He's so ingrained in that external personality he basically isn't anything but someone who does kung fu better than anyone else and the sole deserving one of the dragon scroll. This is peak E3 behavior. Tai Lung as a character fundamentally represents the cruelty of destiny. No matter how much you work, who tells you what you're destined for, if you're fated to not get it then you won't. Tai Lung is simply that guy who puts 100% effort into a trajectory and fate tells him no, so he's understandably mad. He's the opposite of Po, who follows the flow of events to get what he wants.
Biografia
The Big Bad of the first film. One of Master Shifu's earlier students and adopted son, Tai Lung is an arrogant Snow Leopard who turned evil and went on a rampage. For that, he was imprisoned for twenty years. It is the prophecy of his escape that sets the events of the series into motion and his defeat at the hands of Po that affirms Po as the Dragon Warrior.
