In honor of the spin-off coming out sometime in the future: https://weareani.me/vwtrbu “I only interned as a teacher to fulfill the expectations of my father and the others. But…I’m not interested in being a teacher…besides, the profession of a teacher still doesn’t seem suitable for me! Since I am a rather eccentric person…my strange personality has no cure!” I think this simultaneously represents the influence of external expectations on him, as some higher entity he felt compelled to factor in into his decisions of value and such (Fe)—an external standard he felt beholden to in a grander sense (Fe/Ti), the 5w4 eccentricity, and the absolute social blindness in instinct lmao. “My father is a very strict person, very strict in regards to attitude and behavior. Because I didn’t say what I really thought, seemingly following what they wanted me to do, no one could criticize my actions. By the time I realized that, I had already turned into a person who only lives to satisfy my father and others around me.” Another example of Fe. I could see a 1 fix here, but he seemed to do it to avoid hassle rather to avoid criticism itself, which would be motivated from a 1’s desire to be on the “right” track. He just doesn’t seem to care as much—but perhaps this is relevant to 1 as well? However, the next part where he criticized and stood up against Kyoko’s parents for not wanting to acknowledge children who had done things wrong in their lives could very well be a 1 fix, or standing up on behalf of someone who experienced a similar circumstance as him that resulted in a growth away from that passiveness within him. I just got the sense that the passive stance on things was more prevalent in his personality, especially with the laissez-faire attitude towards regulations and rules and such, with 9>1. I’m wondering if his tendency to project a nice image to others without really the “strings-attached” way of a 2 wanting to have liking reciprocated points away from a 2 fix as well. He seems to be able to pull of the “clean” image that 3s strive for, and doesn’t overly dwell in his eccentricity due to a sense of intrinsic lack in a way beyond his 4 wing, so I hesitate to give him a 4 fix. He also seems to have a strong awareness of status and “influence”, wielding his position as the son of a well-reknown teacher to his own advantage and such. And Kyoko calls him out for such maneuvering: Katsuya: “forming a good relationship with students is one of my strong points.” Kyoko: “Wah! BS! Your only strong point is that you’re a great liar!” Katsuya: “Thank you!” [LMAO] In any case, the way he detachedly inquired about why Kyoko was lashing out in their first meeting and then basically went to psychoanalyze her reasons for doing so, and then later on stating that it was her emotional expressiveness that drew him to her due to his own closed-off nature + inability to cry after going through the same kinds of things as her, basically sells the 5 core. I can’t pinpoint sp/sx or sx/sp as much bc he doesn’t seem to have struggles with either that the dominant instinct tends to show, because we are seeing him from an outsider’s perspective. But does seem far more emotive in the presence of Kyoko and does focus on a few individual special people in his life, and has the more direct and provocative nature of sx first for the 5. Also disclaimer that I know the age gap is wildly inappropriate and this is probably not a realistic thing to happen between 2 ppl lol 😆 This YT comment though: Anime-only fans: OH MY GOSH I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEIR LOVE STORY!!! Manga readers: "I mean... I'm totally gonna watch it but I have a moral obligation to cringe the whole time."
Biografia
Tohru's father and Kyoko's husband, who died from pneumonia when Tohru was only three years old. His connection to Kyoko during his time as a student teacher led to Kyoko leaving her gang as a middle schooler and turning her life around. Though Tohru lacks memories of him due to his passing away so early in her life, she notably gets her very polite speech patterns from what little she remembers of how he spoke to others.
