I see arguments have been made for both ISxP. I'm personally going with ISTP for a few reasons: She refused to accept that the tracks she found were simply a bear because it did not make logical sense to her “I’ve never seen a bear track that big & why was it on its hind legs? Why would it skin & gut a snake?” and further more she was driven to track it down because she NEEDED to understand what it was “something is out there, we need to go back out”. She also shows a remarkable ability to problem solve by analyzing her surroundings, and then leaps to conclusions of what they mean (Ti-Se-Ni). Fi can analyze as well, but the frequency & accuracy with which she did it seemed like high Ti. In the span of a few days she; figured out that the cougar was scared off their tribesman because he was still alive, figured out that she wasn’t making kills because she had to go run to get her hatchet after a miss so added a rope & immediately was able to catch hare, figured out that the predator only attacks things it sees as threats due to it not killing her when she was in the bear trap, figured out the fur trappers killed the bison because a cigar was left there, figured out how to escape being bound to the tree by just seeing a nearby bear trap, figured out how to use the predator’s curled bladed weapon by seeing how it was attached to the trapper's leg, figured out the predator sees via body heat because he couldn’t see the trapper was alive after he took the cooling herbs, analyzed the predator’s tracking beam by watching as the bolts changed direction after he fired them etc. Lastly her explanation for wanting to be a hunter being “because you all think I can’t” sounds more like inferior Fe (focused on rejecting other’s perception of her), than Dom Fi which would be more likely to say something like “because I believe I am called to be a hunter” (focused on being the version of herself she felt was most authentic) or "because it's not right to pigeonhole women into specific roles" (focused on following what she believes to be the morally superior choice).
