Very obvious Social Three. He is not an Eight. Why are you people mistyping him? He just has 8-like traits. He is ruthless and territorial because his image is threatened, not because lust is his core passion. Social Threes can become aggressive, defensive, competitive and even violent when their image is at stake. This is exactly how he behaves in the film. Anyways, here is my argument for SO3: Everything about him comes back to his image, his reputation and how the world sees him. He was once a famous explorer who got humiliated and got called a fraud. The whole reason he spends sixty years in Paradise Falls is not really the bird itself. It's to prove the scientific community wrong and restore his name. A very SO3 motivation. He needs prestige, recognition and desperately wants to be seen as important and successful. When Carl and Russell meet him, he is charming and theatrical. He effortlessly plays the role of the legendary explorer. That polished public persona is the type of image management associated with Social Three. But the moment his image is threatened, the mask drops. He becomes cold and paranoid, willing to kill anyone who might take his discovery from him because he cannot tolerate being exposed as wrong or forgotten. He is a man whose whole identity depends on being admired, remembered and proven right.

Charles F. Muntz is the main antagonist of Disney•Pixar's 2009 animated feature film Up. He is a famous explorer admired by Carl Fredricksen and his late wife, Ellie as children. In the movie, he found the bones of a tropical bird in South America, but the scientific community claimed they were fake. Insulted, Muntz searches the South American wilderness for a live member of the same bird species, traveling in a zeppelin with his many pet dogs, whom he equips with special collars he invented that enable them to speak. They are lead by Alpha and his assistants Beta and Gamma. He was voiced by the late Christopher Plummer.
