This kid is skeptical of everything. He was reading magazines under his covers about fake santa discoveries and when the train needs to stop, he's questions the girl to see if she really knows which lever was the break. He does this again later in the movie. I just think for the age of this kid, for him to have that developed of a Ti it would have to be his hero, not his child.
