Honestly, people who type SH as INFP doesn't understood what they played, and people who type David Lynch as INFJ doesn't understood what they have seen (or only watched Twin Peaks). Both are similar superficially? surely. One inspired another? Without doubt. But, the way they work is different. Silent Hill is much more about the meaning behind everything, all the things are meticulously thought and have a definite meaning behind it (Ni and Ti). Silent Hill is a over-rationalizing game, because over-rationalization is one of the prior characteristics of the INFJ personality, so much so that the Psychoanalysis is typed as INFJ, and Silent Hill is pure Psychoanalysis from start to end and vice-versa. Silent Hill is structured, cerebral and concrete, and the unconscious character of the dominating function make this even more rooted and expressive (Ni) David Lynch movies are much more about the style and the method, Lynch doesn't care about meaning at all, is because of this that he refuses do explain his movies, his work is not to be understood, but to be felt. Lynch only dives in his unconscious, and let his imagination build pictures through unconscious stimulations. Lynch is chaotic, unstructured and abstract, and the objective character of the secondary function make this even clearer (Ne) Other thing that shows these differences, is how the characters are portraited. Silent Hill has uncanny characters, they are strange and broken, but extremely believable, being written in a extremely detailed and sensitive way, their feelings are understood deeply by the town (Fe and Ti) While Lynch's characters are scandalously cartoonish and unbelievable, in a level that even offers involuntary humor, and the movies doesn't elaborate much about them (Fi repressing Te) And to close this, the way the horror works in both is different. Silent Hill is scary and disturbing because it dives so deeply, and articulate so strong, morbid and gut-wrenching things out of the characters minds, that is overwhelming. The profundity makes Silent Hill scary. Lynch is scary and disturbing by how volatile and liquid everything is, you can be seeing a normal or even comedic scene, and suddenly everything swipes to a extremely awkward and even scary thing, or, do everything at the same time, offer a scene that is funny, scary, disturbing, unsettling and confusing, everything at the same time. The unpredictability makes Lynch scary. (Also, Silent Hill 2 is the most unhinged Ni heavy thing that I've ever seen)
バイオグラフィー
Silent Hill is a video game franchise created and produced by Konami. Alongside Capcom's Resident Evil, it is considered one of the defining examples of the Survival Horror genre in the medium, with the games being critically acclaimed for their story, atmosphere, sound design and soundtrack. The series surrounds the various happenings that occur in the eponymous American lakeside resort town; even before the location became known to a slew of disappearances, murders, and mysterious activity (mostly owing to the existence of at least one demon-worshipping cult), Native Americans called the area in which the town stands a cursed "land of the spirits". In stark comparison to most games in the survival horror genre, the game focuses succinctly on psychological horror. Every protagonist has an internal struggle that the town itself takes hold of, altering its very environment and the creatures they'll encounter based on their psyche. The series is quite fond of Nothing Is Scarier, making use of surreal imagery and symbolism, constantly teasing the horrors that may lie in wait just out of sight.
