Cherry may strike one as a stereotypical INFP at first glance, (I thought so too) but after contemplating on it, I think the Ni-Se axis suits him far better. The best way in which his perceiving axis is showcased is his haikus. Most of them have almost no subjective sensation (Si) in them. Here is an example: “Lights in the summer night make a false start in the evening sunset” ⇛ The lights, which are the streetlights, turn on before the sun goes down. This is an objective sensation (Se) that Cherry is easily able to explain to Smile, it’s a common reality that everyone sees. He gathers information from his surroundings, and expresses the Ni conclusion that the streetlights turned on at the wrong time. This haiku does not express a multi-faceted idea (Ne), rather it conveys a quite simple and condensed inference. An Ne-Si user would probably say something about how the streetlights resemble fireflies, or little bowls of light like lots of little suns, or maybe the stars coming out in the evening. These are all subjective experiences, which we don’t see a lot of in Cherry’s haikus. In a way, Ni works in metaphors while Ne works in similes. Some more Ni-Se examples: “A thunderous roar, words exist for the sake on expression.” —> Ni conclusion “Far across the sky, above the green rice paddies, is the dwindling sun.” —> Pure Se “The water strider, leaves a ripple, on the water's surface.” —> Ni + Se Cherry talks in metaphors, not similes. He usually expresses a singular message, not some multifarious, uncertain idea like Ne users do. His haikus have a point they want to deliver. As for his Enneagram, I’m not sure if we were given enough information about him to know for sure, but I definitely cannot see him as a 9. He’s constantly in his head, self-absorbed, even reluctant to engage in conversation with new people, and he makes his discomfort clear. A 9 would most likely try to go along with the group and at least try to act comfortable in others’ presence in order to maintain their harmony with the environment. Cherry, quite to the contrary, ignores the environment completely. I think 5w4 suits him best.
バイオグラフィー
Yui Sakura (さ く ら ・ ゆ い, Sakura Yui ), better known as Cherry (チ ェ リ ー, Cherī ) is one of the main characters in "Cider no You ni Kotoba ga Wakiagaru". He is a 17-year-old high school student who enjoys writing haikus. Not being the best at getting along with people, Cherry often uses haiku as an emotional outlet, even posting his work on a platform called "Curiosity". He often gets nervous and blushes, making it almost impossible to talk to other people. He is often seen wearing headphones so that people don't talk to him; this also serves to turn off the sound around him, as he doesn't like loud sounds, having difficulty dealing with them.
