I think it was due to her family background, her training as a psychiatrist, and her very own nature that enabled her to develop a deep understanding of Bond's true character and to see the grief he had suffered. She fell in love with his human side and developed from that a close relationship and deep bond with him. She also doesn’t strike me as a fighter or someone who is acutely aware of the immediate environment like – let's say Camille („Quantum of Solace“) or Natalya Simonova. She is as Lea Seydoux said herself a doctor who fights in another way.
