He's so much like Frank Gallagher that I believe he and Reagan have a Frank-Fiona-like relationship. I think it was done on purpose. This show is hyper-aware of pop culture, especially current pop culture; I wouldn't be surprised if they based their only messed up father-daughter relationship on one of the most popular dramatic comedies of the last decade, especially when you take Reagan and Fiona's similarities into play; instead of 5 or so siblings, Reagan wants custody of Cognito inc. If not, this might aswell be a rick Sanchez-Beth Smith jab or based on father-daughter relationships like Frank/Fiona Rick/Beth. I could just be spitballing, but to me, it's almost undeniable (in my opinion) how similar Rand and Reagan are to Frank and Fiona. If any shameless fans watch this show, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
