He's so much like Frank Gallagher that I believe he and Reagan have a Frank-Fiona-like relationship. I think it was done on purpose. This show is hyper-aware of pop culture, especially current pop culture; I wouldn't be surprised if they based their only messed up father-daughter relationship on one of the most popular dramatic comedies of the last decade, especially when you take Reagan and Fiona's similarities into play; instead of 5 or so siblings, Reagan wants custody of Cognito inc. If not, this might aswell be a rick Sanchez-Beth Smith jab or based on father-daughter relationships like Frank/Fiona Rick/Beth. I could just be spitballing, but to me, it's almost undeniable (in my opinion) how similar Rand and Reagan are to Frank and Fiona.
