She is as much of an Infj in the book as she is in the tv series. To be Istj or Isfj, when does she even show Ne inferior? She is way too comfortable with the unknown and taking risks to achieve her goals that will lead her to Oxford. In fact, she instead shows an evident Se grip when she is expelled from school, getting drunk and partying all night. She literally says "that's the first time I let loose," signifying that she rarely enjoys her present (inferior Se) because she is so preoccupied with her future aspirations(Ni). I see why people may see Si because of her love for organisation and discipline, but that's where it ends. I suppose that trait is more to do with the Judging aspect in her mbti than with Si. Her decision making is highly Ni-Fe oriented too. She has a singular vision of attending Oxford, seeing it as necessary to escape the cycle of hardships life has thrown at her and her family(Ni). She believes that by carving this path to success, she will be able to give back to her family for the many sacrifices they made and so that they won't have to struggle anymore(Fe). Her whole personality revolves around getting into Oxford and this singular vision is literally what drives most of her actions and thoughts in this book. This trait is typical of Ni doms who often base their whole life on a single goal that they decisively strive to implement like her. Her observation style is more aligned with Ni than Si I would say. She constantly observes people throughout the book as a means to formulate judgements on their character. For example, whenever she describes James and his friends clothing, she uses that detail to only substantiate her belief that they are superficial. In addition, she is quite spot-on when calling out James, making accurate insights into his family dynamics and his inner motivations without much information. Si users I believe would rather compare their detailed observations with past encounters to draw conclusions which she never does in the whole book series. In fact, I think it is her Si demon that is being mistaken for Si dom, as she only remembers her traumatic experiences in detail, like that childhood experience and when James cheated on her. Also, she is so morally driven and uptight with her principles in a Ni-Fe way and constantly calls out people who don't align with her moral compass. This is not to say Si doms are immoral but they are more ethical than principled while Ni doms are focused on morality, due to their own and unique Ni principles. So all in all, I agree with the Infj consensus and thought it was necessary to clarify the consensus as there seem to be no solid argument for Ni dom. To simply put, James is so fascinated by her due to his Ni inferior compensated with her strong Ni. This is evident in her interaction with James after they slept together in the first book when she inspires James to dream big as "dreams are important," something a Si dom will be averse to as they view dreams as a distraction and prefer staying grounded in the 'what is to be' than in the 'what will be.'
