A few counter-arguments for ISTJ and ISFJ: * I use the following descriptions for each function: Te = Making decisions using objective logic and logical systems Ti = Making decisions using subjective logic and logical principles Fe = Making decisions using objective values and collective feelings Fi = Making decisions using subjective values and personal feelings Si = Perceiving the world using subjective sense perception and experience Ni = Perceiving the world using subjective intuitive perception and abstract symbolism * Obi-Wan is a Fe-user. Not because he is caring and has morals, but because his morality is almost entirely based on the Jedi code, which means that he follows collective values. He is always focused on other people's feelings and external harmony and is never shown to be focusing on his own feelings. (EDIT 1: The second sentence about collective values isn't that convincing ngl, but I still agree with my other points.) (EDIT 2: Even though Fi can also see value in a collective system such as the Jedi code, it does so by forming a personal connection to them, which we - like previously stated - don't see Obi-Wan doing. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong though.) I understand the possibility of ISFJ, but the arguments shouldn't be based on tradition and responsibility. They are not Si traits, they are stereotypes and 6w5 traits. And while Obi-Wan is indeed traditional, it's due to his traditional values. There is a clear connection between collective values and traditional values; they are often combined in culture and religion, because collective values change slowly over time, if at all, which is why they ultimately become "traditional". So basically: - Perceiving functions don't form values themselves, because they observe the environment. Values are used for decision-making, which is why the judging functions are concerned with them. - People can perceive the world through their values, but that doesn't mean that the values are originated from sensory or intuitive perception. * There are people who argue that Obi-Wan cannot be INFJ (or a Fe-user in general) because he clashes with Anakin and Qui-Gon. However, there are reasonable explanations as to why it happens: Obi-Wan and Anakin clash because they have different... 1) judging functions: Obi-Wan believes in objective and collective values (Fe) while Anakin makes decisions with subjective and personal values (Fi). 2) Enneagram type: Obi-Wan (6w5) is security-oriented and responsible (also a type 1 trait) and Anakin (8w7) defies almost any rules for the sake of getting the job done. Obi-Wan is calm yet anxious while Anakin is carefree, but also impulsive and aggressive. Now, Obi-Wan also clashes with Qui-Gon even though they both are INFJs or at least Fe-users. The reason is simple: Their Fe is focused on different values and viewpoints that they both see as what the collective should follow. - Obi-Wan values the Jedi Code and believes in the common viewpoint on the Light Side of the Force. - Qui-Gon's viewpoint is subjective and personal yet he believes that his object of intuitive observation (the Force as a single entity) should be universally valued. (If I'm wrong about this, please tell me. However, that will not change the fact that Obi-Wan uses collective values and follows the Jedi viewpoint on the Force.) (EDIT 3: I currently believe that Qui-Gon is an ISTP. My argument above is also a bit of weak due to not having a good source. My main point was that there are multiple ways for people with the same type to disagree.) Their enneagram types also differ. Like previously stated, Obi-Wan is responsible and security-oriented while Qui-Gon is more rebellious and independent by nature. They can both be Fe-users and still use Fe very differently. Not to mention the fact that Qui-Gon saw Anakin as the Chosen One who's training will benefit the Force, the Jedi and the whole galaxy (greater good). Obi-Wan saw Anakin as a threat at first, not because of his own opinion but because he trusts the council's judgement and the Jedi values of not training anyone too old. That isn't Si, but Fe (EDIT 4: and perhaps low Ti as well).
