When he was stuck in the vault for 2-3 years, his Ne prevented him from trying to escape because he was scared of the possibility he would end the world if he let the button go. What makes this more Ne is the fact that it wasn’t necessarily “I’m 100% sure the button will/will not destroy the planet”- Ni, like John Locke’s interpretation. More like “nothing can happen, but the destruction of the planet can happen too, and this/that can happen too,” which is more Ne than Ni. He sees many possibilities.
