I am only in favour of the death penalty if the law makes it incredibly difficult to actually implement it. There are a lot of potential dangers (like it being used as a political tool, being subject to biases, and innocent people potentially being condemned to death). So it is extremely important to consider these factors. There should be repeat trials, representatives from different cultural economic backgrounds (to eliminate prejudice and bias), a consensus among these groups, and it being reserved only to repeat offenders of serious crimes (murder, rape, pedophilia, etc). Everyone deserves a chance at rehabilitation. If they do their time, do their best to rectify their mistakes, then that is the best outcome. The death penalty is not a deterrent to crime (and has been proven repeatedly not to be). So it should only be used to eliminate the most dangerous people that everyone universally agrees to be a threat.
