I think it’s pretty obvious throughout the whole show that he leads with Fi. He’s a die-hard romantic, and he’s not afraid to stand up to his dad’s all-business attitude for the sake of following his heart. And as for Ne vs Se: “You can’t expect the future to be just like the past.” Se-dom or aux would’ve made him a lot more concerned with the present moment than the future. “Oh, Alice. Is it better to hope or to know?” He didn’t want to get in touch with Alice for a long time because he wanted to cling to the possibility of things working out for the better rather than having his dreams crushed. Very much an idealist. If he used Se as a dom or aux function, he’d want to work with reality head-on.
