Edit: 💀 Ignore this argument I cringe everytime I look at it I'll admit, I originally imagined ENFJ as her possible type before the Bridge to the Turnabout case. But, her Ni-Ti is just so- AH Anyway, I'd like to provide my view on the Fi vs Fe situation, and why I see Fe over Fi. Firstly, unhealthy Fe & Fi can manifest in numerous twisted ways, so it's vital that we know how to differentiate them by discerning small details that pertain to each function. (“When you've run in a wall with no place to go, return to the basics.” -Kilometres Edgyworth) Fi is a highly emotional function concerned with personal integrity and one’s internal values, regardless of external standards; focusing on an internal moral compass to guide one’s sense of direction. It can be compassionate, it can be cruel, it can surface in numerous ways—but most important of all, it focuses on a purely subjective lens that is fixed towards its own sense of ethics, not the world’s. Now it kind of makes sense for what her character relishes and desires, but selfishness and living for yourself isn't enough to claim, “This is clear Fi” (Remember that the main reason she even acts like this: her parents' negligence led her down this path of esteeming only herself.) Now, Fe is an interpersonal function that can understand and interpret the emotional atmosphere; perceiving others' sentiments and beliefs while absorbing them in a collective consensus used to unite morality of the world into something fixed; and despite its reputation, it IS an objective function, as it looks outwards towards the world and society’s standards of ethics and takes it in with ease. What it chooses to do with the emotional data it intakes is of second nature; of course, some Fe users can certainly inhibit some of ‘traits’ exhibited by the stereotypes (People-pleasing, pushover, etc.) but applying these to as a whole in typology only paints a more distorted picture because it only focuses on one side of a story—focus on the process, not the conclusions. Moving on from that, what’s important about this is that she’s not a Fe user because she manipulates: it’s the WAY she manipulates that screams Fe. Think back the court cases she's been in: thanks to her demeanor and looks, she's able to weasel herself into and out of situations because of the grip she’s able to have on people. But, the way she wields them reminds me of harmful Fe; specifically, when she was able to gang them up against Mia. Remember, Fe points their attention towards the tribe, intaking and absorbing external ethics from all sources and points of view. And because it can be so accustomed to how the world’s sense of morality operates, it can also know how to use it to their advantage; whether it be for the purest or the most twisted of intentions. Now, with this knowledge Dahlia has of the tribe’s emotional nature and beliefs, she's able to utilize the opinion of the tribe (Which she has tampered) against Mia, stacking them all up against her, though she isn't upfront with it. She imposes the emotional atmosphere to achieve this; shifting the emotions of others to feel exactly how she intends them to. Think about how she responds to Mia’s accusations at first: she doesn’t outrightly scream in her face or counterattack aggressively, but instead uses emotional tactics to appeal to the tribe. (Tears, puppy dog eyes, stutters, looking downwards miserably, etc.) Ultimately, making them place her on this pedestal and instead attacking Mia’s arguments baselessly out of sympathy, because she knows how to play with their hearts. Not only that, the way Fe is positioned in her stack gives a perfect reason as to why her charm can be flicked off and on like a switch. While the auxiliary is like a balancing role for the dominant function and possesses strong influence, it can also be tossed away just as easily if it doesn't retain healthy functioning. (This is what can cause people to be prone to loops. But even so, the aux will leak out somehow because you can never fully suppress your functions.) Dahlia uses her aux like a switch; she only values it when it comes to her manipulative schemes. And when someone pushes her to the point where she can't take it, she'll break down and we can see her cynical Ni-Ti being operated behind the scenes. (If you anything to add or disagree with, please go ahead. Also I apologize for this being long, I'm a sucker for long texts lmao)
