I thought this guy was the most obvious ESTP when I read Norwegian Wood. He has an extreme single-track mind towards what he values; namely, simply taking in and enjoying every sensory experience he can get, however shallow it might make him seem to others. This mindset leads him to struggle with any kind of foresight, always insisting that he'll just "go by his own system" until the day that something happens that prevents him from doing so anymore. This combination of being obsessed with whatever's going on "here and now" to the point that he can neither comprehend nor bother to comprehend the impacts his actions will have is a very typical example of strong Se + weak Ni. He's also fairly clearly Ti > Te, despite his obsession with "systems". Instinctively, that obsession made him seem Te-esque to me, but what he actually means by "living by our own systems" in the story is that he thinks everyone lives by their own system of rationality. In his mind, everyone relies on their own cognition of "what makes sense to me", and uses that as they live their life. Because of this, he's actually fairly anti-Te in behaviour; he's extremely unresponsive to other people's arguments or beliefs, because to him, the only thing that matters is "what makes sense to me". There's no focus on evidence or objectivity. He further shows rudimentary Fe development in the way that he treats social interaction like a game, such as when he's talking to Watanabe about picking up women. He knows how to manipulate social interactions for his own gain, because (in a rather crass and unempathetic way) he understands the emotions of others and how to manipulate them to make certain things happen. Se-Ti-Fe-Ni is a pretty good match for him.
