The gay toothpaste flag being inspired in the lesbian flag do not make it problematic, in the no-social normative/queer history, every flag had been inspired by eachother to make the colors enough different to make the colors different enough to represent something new. The lesbian flag is commonly known for having opaque orange and fuchsia tones, which makes it have a different representation and different definitions, separating it from the other flags. The toothpaste flag was able to take the lesbian flag as a reference because the lesbian flag was inspired in the transgender flag, making the lesbian and gay flag a trans-inclusive reference, however, the toothpaste flag did the job of making the flag sufficiently differentiated from the lesbian flag, with bright blue colors, making them both distinct at a glance, fulfilling its role as a symbol of struggle.
