Edit: Leaning towards sx8 now, I will rewrite this argument when E8 book or ep 3-4 get released “Your priority should be ME!!!” [1/3] This is my first time writing an argument for both types, so feel free to correct my understanding. I will be using excerpts from Claudio Naranjo's sx2 descriptions, and then I will explain how it applies to Ashley from my point of view. At the end I will also point out a couple of strong sx8 hints that we can derive from EP2. If you have a clear stand about her core, you can treat my comment as a tritype fix argument. Personally, I interpret Ashley's behavior as E2's tendency to have and project a good-hearted image of herself due to repression as her defense mechanism. The cause of her instability and emotional outbursts is her pride being hurt when the illusion crumbles as she feels Andrew exhibiting a dry, sharp, and nontender attitude, not returning love. Ashley craves love and attention that she did not receive enough as a child, and her domineering seductive behavior became a strategy for getting attention from the only person that was always close, hence her emotional dependence on Andrew, who cannot withstand the pressure and gives her what she needs. I believe she uses BOTH E2’s strategy of seduction through becoming an indispensable figure AND E8’s threat and domination. Though I also accept sx8 for her (she’s like 50/50 of both tbh), any of the E8 types would not prefer to be dependent on the other to this extent since their dominance has the opposite goal of independence and rebelliousness. Ashley is aware of the dependent nature of her and Andrew’s relationship, she is not afraid to be seen as weak and vulnerable, and she is not insecure about her desire to be loved but rather has the exact goal to achieve it. “You won’t do it because… I’m the only one you can talk to. When you can’t sleep at night, and you can’t take it, I’m the only one who can make it go away.” ▸ 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘌2’𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘴𝘦. 𝘙𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘺, 𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴. 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴.” Examples of Ashley having an inflated image: “I really am such a sweetheart! You’re so lucky to have me.” That’s what she often says. You’re lucky I’m not going to shoot you. You’re lucky I’m hot. You’re lucky I’m here to help you, and you’re lucky I can cook human meat for you. Her pride manifests in everything she tells Andrew, and this is why people often believe pride > lust in her case. Andrew: It’s not like my girlfriend dumped me after you harassed the hell out of her, or something. Ashley: You’re better off without *****. All I did was weed out a quitter for you! You’re welcome. And I wouldn’t harass anyone if you’d stop ignoring me when I need you! Ashley: Ha! And I bet you’d love it if I killed myself then! This is how her defense mechanism of repression works: after literally killing people, she is ready to proclaim that she was doing it for the better, not for her own lust. She wants to make Andrew believe that getting rid of people was the right thing to do — she saved him, protected them, and she did so well by pushing him ‘cause otherwise he wouldn’t do anything. Andrew, on the other hand, does not fall for it so easily and often doubts their past actions, trying to open Ashley’s eyes through common sense. However, this always causes an argument. E2/E8 see reality through an irrational lens, and when Andrew says that her actions were wrong or stupid, it is seen as criticism, and it riles her — how can he be so ungrateful? And if he doesn't appreciate it, does that mean she won't receive love from him anymore? Andrew: What is it? Ashley who equipped false abundance to receive love in return: Nothing. I just love you so much. Andrew: Thanks. Ashley: Jesus, what a sht reply. Would it kill you to say it back to me every once in a while?
