Joel is clearly an adorable INFP. He sets out on a possibly deadly journey without a logically devised plan. Even if he knows that he freezes in front of danger and that he has no survivor skills, no sense of direction, not even a map if it wasn't for his friends. That’s because he is driven by his Fi, paired with an aux Ne blind faith. His process of growth is about gaining self-esteem and letting go of trauma paralysis, by learning to trust and elaborate his Si perceptions and to develop some Te, in order to become more practically “useful” (as needed in a ruthless post-apocalyptic world). By the end of the movie, he does just that and starts to turn into a possible leader, when his new abilities are paired with his positive values and optimistic mindset. Dylan O' Brien's dominant Ne really shines through though, that's why there are ENFP votes.
