[1/2] NATSUME IZAWA IS A 3W4 Anyone who is typing natsume sx1 fell for the facade that was meant to be dismantled by the viewer. How is she in any way anything but heart triad? 'The over-efficient character is always preoccupied with acting overly-efficiently outside. He overdoes everything, and this overdoing ruins what he is trying to do. He cannot match reality because his efficieny is excessive. When he turns inside, he turns his over-efficiency aaginst himself and he ruins himself.' This is a part of the E3 description, infact its whats present at the very start— Natsume is a very obvious E3. She is always preoccupied with something, she always refuses to rest and take breaks during practice as well and encourages eveeyone to get just as fired up as her during it. On her school rooftop, she's always practicing guitar. She doesn't care if she has to do it alone, since she'd rather have that and be efficient than lie to herself. Other people may judge her all they want, but Natsume is so self focused and self sufficient that she mainly focuses on what she wants since she's aware that she cant change other people's perceptions of her. You may say this isn't very textbook E3 of her, though. That's true, E3s are known for their people pleasing tendencies. But Threes don't only identify with that. Natsume has been deemed to be 'scary' and 'terrifying' by her underclassmen and classmates. She plays into that image, thus 'idenitifying' with the self image that is based off of other people's expectations. Threes defensively transform themselves into what 'important' people in their enviornment can appreciate and admire. "I'll show you just how far out of your league I am." "I was playing, so of course it was a success." And Natsume *does* want to be acknowledged by others— she tells people what she truly believes in and the values she holds and believes as 'objective truths.' "You can't become someone, so you throw yourselves into whatever gives you an easy way to feel fullfilled." "I'd rather play guitar a thousand times over alone than lie to myself." "Wait... What I just said was pretty cool, wasn't it...?" (Clearly showing her *wanting* to be admired and liked by others.) 'Regardless of their factual importance for him, he must impress them.' Natsume obviously shows off alot with her guitar skills. That much is obvious if you literally just look at the charts of millsage songs LMAO. She wants to be seen as unique, admirable and recognizable. She literally talks about wanting more fans who can appreciate her too like. 'While Type Fours overdo an attachment to grief and Type Twos are in conflict with their sadness, Threes underdo grief, habitually numbing out their feelings so they don't get in the way of working go reach their goals.' After Kanata died, Natsume distanced herself from millsage as a whole. She didn't pay attention to how she felt, or how she would process it. She simply just strayed away in hopes that she could focus on whatever she thinks is important. E3s vanity revolves around a concern for their image, and a passion in living for the eyes of others. Houka literally points this out too. (I had thought she was someone who lived purely for the approval of others... It seems she's surprisingly iron-nerved.) Despite being image oriented Natsume is okay with people disliking her. She made up for this by thinking of herself as better than everyone and this reflects in alot of her dialogue as well. I don't think I need to give examples for this, since its obvious she only acts like she's better than everyone else since she's insecure about herself and how other people perceive her. You *can* be E3 and still not have your life revolve around social connections and people pleasing. Alot of E3s are like that. Even though vanity is present in all heart triads, im E3s, the person mobilizes themselves to 'prove' their value to others, like how Natsume does with millsage through sessions where she seems to be extremely competitve. 'Threes are more directly hostile in a wide variety of ways, from arrogantly distancing themselves, to snide humor at others' expense, to sarcastic putdowns, to sabotaging and betraying people. Hostility serves Threes in two ways: first, it compensates for their own feelings of inadequacy, and second, it keeps away people who, for one reason or another, undermine their fragile self-esteem.' I feel like this paragraph alone proves that she is NOT enneagram 4. She has the ambition, motivation, and pursuit of achievement of an E3. She wants to be viewed as a competent person who can do things and has capabilities. Unlike E2 and E4, E3s only tend to express emotions that they deem as correct. In Natsume's case, this is anger. Since she has been bullied or isolated her whole life, she doesn't like to express how she truly feels and decides to mask her inner wounds with anger instead, and also gets embarassed when other people point it out.
