Doc is an INTJ. INFJs have Fe, meaning that they would naturally go along with what is socially acceptable. Look at the world from Dr. Shirley's eyes. He SEES the world as "right" and "wrong" and actively goes against the world's views and CONFRONTS racism. He sees the world as a place that doesn't accept African Americans such as him. An INFJ would adjust THEMSELF to what is socially right in order for them to fit in, but an INTJ with Fi sees the world and it's beliefs, and DISAGREE, choosing to create their OWN path on what's socially right based on their own beliefs. Dr. Shirley wants to change people's hearts by showing his music. He wants to change people by showing others that THIS is him: He is courageous, he is strong, he is an African American who can also be successful, talented, accepted, and he never backs away from being HIMSELF. Comparing him to his friend, Tony, who is an Fe user, Tony doesn't understand Dr. Shirley at all. Tony is Fi blind with an Fe child. He didn't understand why Dr. Shirley did the things he did in the start of the movie because Dr. Shirley's actions were self expressive, not socially conformative. Not until he starts to realize why Dr. Shirley is directly challenging social norms in the first place. Other Notes: Reading people is an Ni-Se thing. INTJs, INFJs, ENTJs, ENFJS, they are all good at perceiving and understanding people because of their Ni-Se function combination. Se takes in information from the physical world and then Ni processes and internalizes it to come to the bigger picture, which is why those with Ni as their dom/aux function always have this intuition of other people’s body languages. They can read body language and their physical environment from their Se function, and internalize the meaning of the ideas with their Ni. This man is INTJ because of his Fi. Fe is basically the basic b* of emotions— all extroverted functions are. All Fe does is take in other people’s feelings (and usually, for the INFJ, they internalize it through Ni or Ti). INTJ has Fi because of its strong morals and emotional beliefs, it internalizes its own feelings and decides what is right and wrong. The INTJ knows what is right and wrong to itself early on. The INTJ uses this idea onto its environment and moves to change the world to its own idea of right and wrong. (Opposed to the INFJ who values Ti, internalizing logic not values)
