This argument between ISTP and INTJ is maybe one of the most intriguing dialectics I've seen on this site. I really can see both, but I'm identifying more and more INTJ psychology the more I think about the role of Ni, depending on where it is in a type's function stack. It's simple enough to see Joe as a thinker, especially with her contempt for sentimentality and people she sees as being 'blindly emotional.' Though I do think she is still a Fi user, and tert Fi resonates greatly with her motivations, as well as the ways in which she relates to other people. Her Ni is clear in that Joe looks for meaning in most things in her life. The dialogue between Joe and Seligman that the narrative is founded upon seems very brazenly between a Ti dom and a Ni dom. Both functions look for internal resonance of all things, but Seligman's dominant function leads him to be more rigid in his understanding of right and wrong. Ti and Ni are similar enough in their pursuit of knowledge, though as a perceptive function, Ni doesn't ask for accuracy the way that Ti does. Joe discovers she wants to tell her story without needing to censor herself or stop herself because of social mores and the like. (This is very loudly 'Ni-Te-Fi' behavior!) Hopefully this stream of consciousness was somewhat coherent. What do you think?
