The argument for INFJ seems to rely more on stereotypes than on cognitive functions. First, having strong principles or correcting others does not automatically indicate Fe or Ni. Healthy ENFPs with developed Fi-Te are perfectly capable of enforcing standards, criticizing reckless behavior, and expecting others to act responsibly. Fi isn’t just “personal feelings”—it creates a strong internal moral framework, while tertiary Te allows ENFPs to express those values directly and even bluntly. A mature ENFP with stronger Te and greater emotional control can look far more composed and responsible than the stereotypical energetic ENFP people imagine. In other words, the difference between child Nel and adult Nel can easily be explained by psychological maturity, not by a complete change of personality type. The biggest issue with the INFJ interpretation is that it seems to assume: “calm + responsible + principled = INFJ.” But maturity, self-control, and strong values are not exclusive to INFJs. Those traits are fully compatible with a well-developed ENFP using Fi-Te.
