her ni-ti is most apparent in her arguments with benedict. when she pushes benedict away she is always asking “how can this work out between us” and asking benedict for solutions and such. this is her Ti trying to understand and make sense of how they can proceed but never finding a way through. her ni appears in her tunnel vision, she focuses solely on this perfect ideal arrangement between her and benedict. she can’t imagine being with benedict without his family’s approval, without society’s approval, without being labelled as a mistress, but truthfully she doesn’t need all that to be with him; she’s trapping herself into all these ideas that she has narrowed in on and convinced herself to be necessities. you can also see her ni in how she thinks benedict must think about the lady in silver. she thinks he must har liked her for her grace, nobility, and so on, and she lets this idea she has made up build into pressure to distance herself. she thinks incredibly far ahead, asking benedict things like “what if he eventually meets someone he wants to marry?” and thinking about how their future illegitimate children might feel. the several despairing thoughts she has always creates this chain of events: thinking about how things may not work out now but even if they do something along the line is sure to screw them over. her fe appears in how highly aware she is of hierarchies, her own social standing, and the approval of society. she is constantly reminding how maids should not have attachments with gentlemen, how maids should act, how gentlemen should act, etc. she casts her own feelings away for the sake of these societal demands. she may be traumatized by her experience and her parents having her illegitimately, but what motivates her is falling into that same position and living out the fate of her mother and giving that fate to her children. that is ni spiralling, not fi motivation. that should be enough to tell you she doesn’t have fi.
