She has Ni. And in order to see why, you have to recognize that the plot itself subtly misdirects you as to how she thinks. Hannibal's dialogue is full of metaphors, while Clarice speaks more plainly. Fine. But does Hannibal's speech reflect his deductive process? Initially, we think it does; we assume that when he talks about Marcus Aurelius etc, he is dropping hints as to how 𝘩𝘦 arrived at the answer. But, as it turns out, he didn't have to "arrive" at anything at all. A former patient simply told him who the killer was. And now we have to rethink things. The truth is that we 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘣𝘢𝘭'𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. We think we do, but we don't. The process we're actually seeing, in great detail, is Clarice's. She is the one operating off little more than vague hints. Hannibal did not have to reflect upon "coveting" to know that the killer was Gumb; more likely, he came up with that line after the fact. But Clarice takes this idea and works 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 to figure out where Gumb lives. Jack Crawford, based on solid data, picks the wrong city. Clarice, based on vibes and guesswork, picks the right one. The trick, which is so clever that I almost think it's intentional, is to make you think Clarice is operating based on experience and procedure, while Hannibal helps her through his superior intuition. In reality, Hannibal is just complicating something that was revealed to him in the simplest of ways. The burden of intuitive insight actually falls on Clarice, who turns Hannibal's riddles into a coherent conceptual whole. But if you go solely by outward demeanor, you miss all of this
