Reading Locke would clarify that he was interested in the idea of God, religion, and morality from where he derived the idea of social contract. Locke was also deeply interested in the concept of human consciousness and epistemology. Yes, he might've wrote about political affairs and believed experienced to be the sole source of human mind, but from where he derived his arguments, is heavily abstract in nature, rather than the concrete evidence.
